Framed Theo Bleser Tank Officer Portrait, c. 1945, oil on board of a lieutenant wearing tanker uniform and helmet, with a 10th Armored Division patch on his left sleeve, background depicts a German city on fire and a tank, marked in lower left corner "Theo Bleser/GRASSAU 45," and on the right painted in red "FEBRUARY 27, 1945," ht. 25, wd. 20 1/4 in.
Note: Grassau, Germany, is a market town in Bavaria, which was taken by the 10th Armored "Tiger" Division in 1945. Theo Bleser (1918-1974) was a well-known German illustrator who worked in the Munich area.
