Label on the stretcher indicates that the painting was brought to the Fogg Art Museum for examination. The label is inscribed Bradley, presumably for Morton Bradley, who was head conservator at the Fogg in the 1940s and 1950s.
The lining is adhered with glue and/or resin and there seems to be a solid support between the old and new canvases. There are multiple campaigns of retouch scattered throughout the composition (including some tiny spots of loss). The craquelure is currently stable but has very gentle cupping.
