Pair of Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Candlesticks, Denmark, c. 1930, pattern no. 264, with pendant grape motif and engraved presentation inscription dated 1937 to underside of the foot, ht. 11 1/2 in., approx. 79.0 troy oz.
Provenance: Acquired by Joseph H. Hirshhorn (1899-1981), financier, philanthropist, and benefactor of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC, as a gift for his wife.
Each bobeche with abrasions and wax to surface. One candlestick bent slightly, metal appears thinner at the base on one side (flexes easily and weight of the stick causes it to bend).
