Gold Presentation Snuffbox, unmarked, most likely late 18th/early 19th century, the lid with chased scene of Poseidon being pulled by two hippocampi through the ocean, interior with engraved inscription: "A Token of Gratitude from Plymouth" above a crowned initial "N&B" and the date 1798, lg. 2 5/8 in., approx. 58 dwt (including shell inset to base).
One very faint abrasion to lid, otherwise in good overall condition with only light age-typical surface wear.
