Description:

Hungarian Silver-gilt Beaker, mid-17th century, probably by Thomas Trepches II, slender form with flaring rim, upper strapwork motif, a chased scene of a hound pursuing two rabbits to the base, ht. 5 3/8 in., approx. 4.0 troy oz.

N.B. A beaker attributed to Thomas Trepches II with a similar hunting scene to the base is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, accession number 2010.110.29, from the Collection of Nicholas M. Salgo.
Provenance: Property from the Estate of Francis M. Bator.
Estimate $2,500-3,000

Foot rim dented into itself 3/4 around. Otherwise with age typical wear.
