Mende Helmet Mask, Sowo, the oval face with close-set features, diminutive smiling mouth, pierced slit eyes in incised sockets, thick incised eyebrows, and naturalistic ears, the broad forehead with a rectangular scarification panel surmounted by a headband framing the coiffure, flanked by four curving horns and enclosed by four snakes, dark shiny patina, ht. 13 1/2 in.
