Description:

Robert Cronin (American, b. 1936)

Colonial Bird
. Signed "R. CRONIN' on the reverse and "CRONIN" on the strainer, titled and dated "...1961 December" on the strainer, identified on a temporary loan label from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and on an unattributed juried exhibition registration form affixed to the strainer. Mixed media with collage on board, 41 x 30 1/8 in., framed. Condition: Surface imperfections and some rippling to the collaged elements that all appear to be in keeping with the artist's intentions.

N.B. The loan label from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, indicates that the work was lent by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Crapo on August 11, 1965. The archives at the MFA do not show that the painting was part of an exhibition, which suggests it may have been placed at the Museum for temporary storage.
Estimate $100-150
