Orson Byron Lowell (American, 1871-1956)

The Proposition. Signed "Orson Lowell" l.c., identified on a printed label affixed to the frame backing paper. Pen and ink on paper, sight size 19 x 30 in., framed. Condition: Sheet consisting of three spliced pieces with vertical seams so that the figure of the standing man is on a separate piece of paper, soiling, toning, pale foxing, not examined out of frame.

N.B. The label affixed to the frame backing indicates that this drawing was published in LIFE magazine, but it does not indicate which issue. The label dates the work to 1910, and describes the scene as a meeting between an impresario and an actress, represented by a theater owner.
