Orson Byron Lowell (American, 1871-1956)
I See a Very Chivalrous and Kindly Gentleman. Signed "Orson Lowell" l.l., identified on a printed label affixed to the frame backing paper. Pen and ink on paper, sight size 26 1/2 x 18 3/4 in., framed. Condition: Small punctures to u.l. quadrant and l.c. edge, creases, scattered fox marks, soiling, not examined out of frame.
N.B. The label on the back of the frame indicates that this work is an illustration for "The Derelict," a fictional story by Juliet Wilbor Tompkins (1871-1956),published in LIFE magazine June 27, 1908, and again in Women's Home Companion in November 1908.
