Finely illuminated folio-format parchment manuscript leaf consisting of eleven lines of vocal music in Latin in black ink with red and blue rubrication, musical notation in a four-line staff; ornate border incorporating strawberries, sweet william, bachelor's buttons, and other flowers, with details that include a coat of arms, peacock, snail, and flying insect; large finely painted four-line initial depicting the Martyrdom of Saint Catherine, she kneels in the foreground before a priest, her hands are bound, and she is blind-folded, her crown lies on the ground, behind her a soldier is unsheathing his sword, the wheel is in the background; verso of the leaf with eleven lines of text and rubrication only, framed, remnants of old mount along top edge verso, old parchment tab or repair to left margin with some minor surface paint loss, 17 x 11 3/4 in.
