Imperial folio-format hand-colored chromolithograph on wove paper depicting two Richardson's ground squirrels (technically pocket gophers) native to short grass prairies along the U.S. Canadian border between North Dakota and Montana and southern Alberta and Saskatchewan, male and female, on a birch branch; the sheet toned, edge darkening, corner chips, 27 x 21 1/4 in.
