Freud, Sigmund (1856-1939) Autograph Note Signed, Vienna, 1936. Printed thank you note dated May 1936 with four lines in Freud's hand and signature, with holograph envelope, to Gertrude Kvergic-Kraus, at the foreign language lending library/bookstore in Vienna, the letter is in German and gives thanks to Kvergic and her colleague who run the business, matted, 5 3/4 x 4 3/4 in.
Kvergic-Kraus's grandfather was Dr. Willowitz, who gave Freud his first job as a junior doctor. When the Nazis occupied Austria, Kvergic-Kraus moved to London where she became the first director of the Economists bookshop, owned by the London School of Economics and the Financial Times.
