Carved and Polychrome Painted Staff with Head, possibly South Carolina, late 19th century, the top with carved head and elongated face with carved hair detail, painted eyes and lips above a carved and polychrome painted collar on a spiral carved shaft, the head with a hole in the top which may have held a candle, lg. 52 1/2 in.
