U.S. Model 1873 Trapdoor Springfield Carbine, c. 1873, serial number 1660, .45-55 caliber, walnut stock with a light cartouche on the left side, period replaced butt plate, no cleaning rod cut out in the butt, marked on the front of the trapdoor "MODEL/1873/US," barrel lg. 22, overall lg. 41 1/2 in.

Note: According to the notes with this gun, it was disassembled and studied by Mr. Ron Navratil for authenticity and according to him, the only replaced part is the butt plate which is from a Civil War-era musket.
