Pattern 1769 Short Land Musket with U.S. Surcharge, c. 1770s, .78 caliber, walnut stock with a large "US" surcharge on the right side of the butt and punched initials "HI," two screw pattern 1777 lock lightly marked "TOWER" with a pattern 1756 cock and replaced steel, top of the barrel marked with proof marks, and an iron ramrod, barrel lg. 42, overall lg. 58 in.
