Portrait of the Locomotive "Charlotte" of the Rutland & Burlington [Vermont] Railroad
Inscribed along the top edge, further inscribed on the reverse.
Watercolor and gouache on paper, 6 1/4 x 11 3/4 in., in a gilt frame.
Condition: Paper unevenly toned.
Provenance: A note written on a backing board reads: "This picture was painted by William Lindsley who was an engineer on the 'Burlington & Lamoille Railroad.' It was presented to William Livermore on his 77th birthday Oct. 31, 1930 by his brother, Carlie Livermore. The Rutland Railroad was one year old at the time this engine was purchased."
