Unsigned, inscribed "Borao Ecole Espagne" in chalk on the reverse.
Oil on wood, 60 x 25 1/4 in. (152.5 x 64.8 cm),framed.
Condition: Deep cracking to panel with old repairs and cradling, retouch, craquelure, surface grime.
Provenance: The estate of Susan J. Lyman.
N.B. Similar compositions have been painted by Spanish 17th-century artists Francisco Meneses Osorio and Bartolomé Esteban Murillo to portray the Immaculate Conception.

On the back are three wax seals impressed with coats of arms. The panel itself looks quite early and despite the label in Spanish to the back panel, the painting itself looks like it may be Italian.
