Rare Longines Stainless Steel 13ZN "Fly-back" Chronograph Wristwatch, c. 1947, caliber 13ZN manual-wind movement reference 5415, arabic numeral repainted dial with blued-steel leaf hands, engine-turned subsidiary dials for constant seconds and 30-minute register, two round chronograph buttons, snap-back case with case marked "92/7222720," dia. 38 mm.

Provenance: Copy of certificate from Longines stating that this watch was invoiced on October 27, 1947, to Longines-Wittnauer, purchased by Ben Somoroff, noted 20th century still life photographer.

Note: Longines was one of very few manufacturers making in-house chronograph movements, and the first company to produce the "fly-back" movement, meaning you are not required to stop the chronograph before resetting it via the 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock pushers. Longines first produced the manual-wind 13ZN mechanical chronograph in 1936, the first to be supplied with the now famous "fly-back" function.
