Charles Chevalier Universal Achromatic Microscope, c. 1840, with horizontal main tube, square pillar with stage platform for accepting either of the two stages, one with X/Y adjustments, and engraved "Charles Chevalier Ingenieur, Opticien, Palais Royal, 163, Paris," gimballed mirror below, with screw-mount case construction, all housed in a dovetailed mahogany case with accessories, green velvet-lined fitted tray containing slides, tools, eyepieces, and objective lens, case wd. 11 3/4 in.
