Bird's-eye Maple and Cherry Federal Tall Clock. c. 1810, New York, swan's neck hood above the freestanding turned columns that flank the roman numeral painted iron dial with moonphase in the arch, raised gilt spandrels enclosing the red, white, and blue shields, applied and veneered bird's-eye maple decoration throughout the case, eight-day time and hour-strike movement, regulated by a wooden rod pendulum, the brass-faced bob engraved "Slow/Fast with a grid/20 Sec. Per Day," and two iron weights, ht. 93 in.

Provenance: Descended through the VerPlanck family and reportedly once stood in the Mount Gulian homestead in Beacon, New York.

nice old surface, small in-painting on some numerals otherwise untouched, swans neck appears to have lost its decoration, two strips of wood on base are old repairs (one covering up a split),original feet, pendulum rod has been repaired near suspension spring and bob.
