Attributed to Nicola Casissa (Italian, d. 1731)

Two Elaborate Still Life Compositions with Flowers, Fruit, and Animals
One signed "NCasissa f" l.l., the other unsigned, with small labels from "Collezione Sangiorgi" on the sides of the frames.
Both oil on canvas, 24 1/2 x 29 1/2 in. (62.5 x 75.0 cm),framed.
Condition: Both lined, retouch, craquelure, varnish discoloration, surface grime.

N.B. Giuseppe Sangiorgi (1850-1928) was the proprietor of a gallery and auction house in Rome.

Framed dimensions for still life with dog and bird: 32 1/2 x 36 5/8 in.
Framed dimensions for still life with peacock and rabbits: 32 1/4 x 36 1/2 in.
Both frames bearing labels from Collezione Sangiorgi numbered and inscribed "7847 PSS/ISS due"

Still life with dog and bird with scattered retouch primarily to the lower right where there is a line covering an old paint loss, along the center left edge and in the sky at upper left. Minor brushstrokes of retouch to strengthen the outlines of some of the flowers.

Still life with peacock and rabbits frame slightly warped. Scattered retouch similar to painting above. Signature is located just above and to the left of the darker foreground rabbit.
