Fletcher, Giles (1549?-1611) The Russe Common Wealth, or Maner of Gouernement by the Russe Emperour, (commonly called the Emperour of Moskovia) with the manners, and fashions of the people of that Countrey London: Printed by T[homas] D[awson] for Thomas Charde, 1591. Fletcher served as English ambassador to Russia in 1588. Cultural observations such as his, written from an outsider's perspective at the end of the 16th century, are uncommon.
