Japonesque Painted Desk, probably England, 19th century, decorated allover with polychrome depictions of birds, flowers, and women in kimonos, upper section with molded brass gallery above seven pigeonholes and eleven drawers, turned wood pulls, leather writing surface, and two central drawers flanked by groups of four drawers, brass pulls, brass casters, lock plates marked "Hobes & Co. London Lever Machine Made," ht. 46 1/4, writing surface ht. 31 1/4, wd. 53 1/4, dp. 35 1/2 in.
