Scottish Silver-mounted Bagpipes, Peter Henderson, Glasgow, c. 1930, bearing the maker's hallmarks, the full sterling silver mounts chased with zoomorphic motifs, the bass drone shield engraved R.M. KAUFFMANN, with accessory box and original leather case labeled FROM/R. M. KAUFFMANN/THE EVENING STAR-THE SUNDAY STAR/WASHINGTON, D.C.

N.B. Rudolph Max Kauffmann (1882-1956) was senior vice president of the Evening Star Newspaper Company, and grandson of Samuel Hay Kauffmann, the company's founding president.
