Walker Evans (American, 1903-1975)
Two Views of Architecture in Chicago, Made for the FortuneMagazine Article "Chicago: A Camera Exploration" (Published February 1947), 1946. One inscribed "Chicago South Side/Victorian House, Detail/So. Prairie Ave. [at 21st Street]" and dated "9/2/46" in pencil on the mount recto l.c., the other with a Fortune stamp inscribed "Chicago Portfolio/Feb '47/Walker Evans" in pencil on the verso, Lunn Gallery stamps on the mount verso. Gelatin silver prints, one mounted to paper, image/sheet sizes to 5 1/2 x 3 7/8 in. (13.8 x 9.8 cm),unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Discoloration and minor tears to edges of the paper mount, minor wear to corners of second print.
Provenance: Photography dealer Harry Lunn Jr., Washington, DC, to a private Massachusetts collection.
