Two Works Depicting Rural and Urban Life, Made for the FortuneMagazine Article "People and Places in Trouble" (Published March 1961), 1961. Each with Fortune stamp inscribed "Distressed," "3/61," and "Walker Evans" in pencil on the verso u.l., Lunn Gallery stamps on the mount verso. Gelatin silver prints, image sizes to 9 x 13 5/8 in. (22.8 x 34.6 cm),matted, unframed.
Condition: Both with scattered handling crimps and wear at corners, the print of children in an interior with areas of spot toning, a half-inch tear in sheet l.r., several breaks in the emulsion at l.l.

Provenance: Photography dealer Harry Lunn Jr., Washington, DC, to a private Massachusetts collection.
