Note: From the Collection of Nancy Friday.
Author Nancy Friday grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, and was a graduate of Wellesley College. Friday was known for her groundbreaking best selling book My Secret Garden, published in 1973. The book was a revolutionary compilation of women's sexual fantasies gathered through advertisements placed in newspapers and magazines throughout the country. Referred to as a sexual pioneer, Nancy struggled with the women's movement referring to feminists as anti-men and anti-sex. Friday had a successful career writing about female sexuality and liberation, and was a guest on popular talk shows throughout the 80s and 90s. She shared her time between Key West, Florida, and New York City. Nancy lived by the motto "more sauce and bigger drinks."
