Note: Scandinavian-born Hansen (1892-1971) emigrated to the United States in 1910. With interests in theology, astronomy, and the arts, he is mostly known for his sculpture. His works range from the monumental Wings and Winged Figures of the Republic at the Hoover Dam, to the carved turquoise Stallion's Head in the Smithsonian Gem Collection, and carved morganite Brooding Image of God.
