Les Français Peints par Eux-Mêmes. Encyclopédie Morale du XIXe Siècle. Paris: L. Curmer, 1840-1842. First edition, five large octavo volumes, illustrated throughout with full-page hand-colored lithographs and uncolored wood engraved vignettes (lacking at least one full-page plate, Une Femme a la Mode, in volume I, some toning, contents good); bound in full uniform contemporary full red morocco by Bedford, gilt-tooled spines, a.e.g., 10 1/8 x 7 in.
