Alcott, Louisa May (1832-1888) Autograph Note on Verso of Original Frank T. Merrill (1848-1923) Illustration for Little Women. Signed pen-and-ink drawing from Little Women, captioned in pencil on verso in an unknown hand, "Laurie heroically shut his eyes while something was put into his arms," with a note in Alcott hand's beneath, "Laurie is rather homely, but the girls may like him. Don't see but one baby, Jo uncovered two when he shut his eyes. Two little bald pates would be funny," another small sketch on verso, in addition to other notes, toned, dusty, chipped, 7 1/4 x 5 in.
N.B. No sales of original Merrill illustrations from Little Women could be found in auction records.
