Watercolor, gouache, and charcoal on illustration board, sight size 20 1/2 x 27 3/4 in. (52.1 x 70.5 cm),framed.
Condition: Puncture with tear l.r., tears u.l. and l.l., scattered abrasions, toning, not examined out of frame.

The inscription on the reverse reads "Mr. Merritt, Sunday American/from,/Howard Chandler Christy/1 W 67."
The framed dimensions are 27 x 34 in.
The frame was not opened during cataloging to preserve the presentation, particularly the window cut in the backing to allow the inscription to be seen.
The puncture to the illustration board is located in the lower right quadrant, 1-1/2 inches above the edge of the mat and 8-1/2 inches in from the right side. The puncture itself measures 1/4 x 1/2 inch and the displaced surface is crumpled, accordian-style, on the left edge of the puncture. The board appears toned and possibly brittle.
The tears mentioned in the condition statement are small. The lower left tear presents as a dog ear to the corner. The tear on the upper left is vertical and measures about 3/4 inch. The is a small cluster of abrasions in the u.c., with a few shallow surface abrasions in the u.l. quadrant.
