Harriet Whitney Frishmuth (American, 1880-1980)
Dated and signed "© 1921/HARRIET W. FRISHMUTH" on the edge of the base, stamped "GORHAM CO. FOUNDERS/QBWS" on the base to the left of the signature.
Bronze with brown patina, height 11 3/4 in. (29.8 cm), on a black metal plinth.
Condition: Uneven coloration to patina, wear to patina on the figure's abdomen, dust and dirt to interstices.

N.B. The Vine was modeled in 1921, and cast between 1921 and 1966. The Frishmuth catalogue of works (see above) lists 317 casts bearing the Gorham QBWS marking out of a total edition of 396 castings.
