Ernst Haas (Austrian/American, 1921-1986)

The Creation/A Portfolio of Ten Photographs, 1962-81, printed in 1982, published by Daniel Wolf Press, New York, in an edition of 300. Signed "Ernst Haas" and numbered "193" on the colophon page, each print signed "Ernst Haas" in pencil l.r. Dye-transfer prints mounted to board, image/sheet sizes to 12 3/4 x 19 1/2 in. (32.2 x 49.4 cm),unmatted, each work housed in a folder inside an oblong maroon linen clamshell box with gilt-lettered leather label.
Condition: Good.

N.B. Accompanied by a photocopy of a letter from David H. Lyman, Director of the Maine Photographic Workshops, regarding the passing of Ernst Haas in September 1986 and including a picture of the students he taught the week before his death, as well as a portrait of the photographer.
Estimate $4,000-6,000

Portfolio box measures 20 1/2 x 25 3/8 x 2 in. Slight wear to portfolio box corners. The prints, mounts, and folders have been protected in plastic and are like new. No additional issues to report.

Titles included are: New England; Surtsey Volcano, Near Iceland; Arizona; Tobago; Lake Huntington, Kenya; Nairobi, Kenya; Island of Kyushu, Japan; Sicily; Kenya; and Vermont.
