Description:

New England Fowler and Saber, c. late 18th century, cherry stock with engraved brass trigger guard (damage) and butt plate, brass ramrod pipes, Thomas Ketland lock converted to percussion, and an octagonal to round steel barrel; a saber with brass hilt (damage) cherry grip, and a steel blade with three fullers.

Provenance: According to the consignor, this fowler and saber were passed down through the Harrington family, originally from Lexington, Massachusetts.
Estimate $700-900

Stock has some dings and nicks and a small split near the edge of the barrel, sword has a broken knuckle bow. There are labels on both items saying they belonged to Jonathan Harrington, who was killed on April 19, 1775, although these look to be made after that time period.
