Portrait of Mrs. John Hone in Black Dress with Red Shawl. Signed and dated "Powell 1848" l.l., sitter identified on fragmentary label from the Museum of the City of New York affixed to the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 17 x 13 3/4 in. (oval format), framed. Condition: Lined, scattered retouch, varnish inconsistencies, craquelure.
