Small Paint-decorated Chest over Drawer, probably Guilford, Connecticut, early 18th century, the cleated top with snipe hinges opens above a box and a drawer all on sides with cutout feet, painted black overall, the front with geometric designs in white, red, and yellow incorporating crosses with latticework borders, the sides with scrolling lines, ht. 24 1/2, case wd. 31 1/4, case dp. 16 1/2 in.

Lid may not be original to box, lid cleats are replaced, upper 1 1/4 of back panel is restored. Surface scratches and wear with associated paint loss.
