1861 Major Robert Anderson Defense of Fort Sumter Medal, obverse with a bust of Anderson facing to the right, the reverse depicts Peter Hart, one of Fort Sumter's non-commissioned officers, resetting the flag after it was shot away during the siege, dia. 87.9 mm, thickness 13.8 mm.

Note: Fifty-one of these medals were struck and presented by the New York City Chamber of Commerce to men who defended Fort Sumter.
