Group of Objects Identified to Captain and Major Thomas L. Haydn, 7th Connecticut Infantry and General Horatio Wright's Staff, c. 1861-65, a Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver, serial number 12706, with checkered ivory grip, brass back-strap engraved "T.L. Haydn from H.W. Hubbell Jr." and on the butt "Dec. 25th 1862.," half-fluted cylinder marked with patent dates, top of the barrel marked "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK US AMERICA," a leather holster with brass buckle, a pair of French-made field glasses marked "RANCHEMANS/GLASS," a silver badge marked on the banner "T.L. Hayden/7th CV" with a Sixth Corps cross marked "ADC. Sixth A.C.," an officer's sword belt with eagle buckle and brass fittings, a pistol cartridge box with "US" at the bottom of the flap and inspector's stamp, a pack of .36 caliber Colt cartridges, a dark blue broadcloth kepi with gold galloon, general staff buttons, and cap badge with "US" in the center, a Model 1850 Staff and Field officer's sword with gilt-brass hilt, engraved near the pommel "T.L.H.," a steel blade marked "Ames Mfg Co/Chicopee/Mass" with foliate designs, panoply of arms, and "US," with a blued-steel scabbard with brass fittings, and a carte-de-visite of General Horatio Wright.

Note: Thomas L. Haydn (also spelled Hayden) enlisted in the 7th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry August 27th, 1861 at Hartford, Connecticut, as a 1st Lieutenant. On October 18th, 1861, he was on detached service as Aide de camp to Major General Horatio Wright through the war and was brevetted Lieutenant Colonel.

The sword belt is missing a few straps, pistol is in good condition and the action functions properly, the sword is in approximately 95% condition with no damage and only slight wear from use.
