Description:

Five-piece American Coin Silver Tea and Coffee Service, Philadelphia, early 19th century, Thomas Whartenby, maker, all but teapot and coffeepot with redacted marks, each urn-form, with various neoclassical registers including a Greek key, grapevine, and thistle, with engraved monogram to underside, coffeepot, teapot, covered sugar bowl, waste bowl, and creamer, coffeepot ht. 11 in., approx. 146.2 troy oz.

Teapot with dent to grapevine register and spout, handle loose (lacking/protruding pins). Waste bowl with grapevine register bent slightly, small dent to body, footrim dented of round. Creamer with two dents to body, footrim dented out of round. Sugar lid with interior edge dented slightly out of round (does not sit perfectly in pot). Sugar bowl and coffeepot each with footrim pushed inward slightly. All with light surface wear, probable engraving removal (silver surface still strong, though light pitting in area along the middle of the body),scattered minor pinprick dents.
