N.B. This illustration was created to accompany the story Good Hunting by Jesse Lynch Williams, published in the November 1916 issue of Scribner's Magazine (Vol. LX, No. 5),where it appeared above the caption, "Set sail by starlight in a 'scooter,' laden with duck decoys- Page 524."

In addition to the typed general information regarding the magazine's publication of the illustration, the Scribner's label bears the following dedication written in ink: " Given to/Morley Donaldson/by W. Bayard Dominick/22 West 51st Street/New York" Dominick was a member of the New York Stock Exchange and also an avid hunter. The four-story house at No. 22 West 51st Street was Dominick's residence until the fall of 1917. (http://daytoninmanhattan.blogspot.com/2016/03/the-1921-dominick-mansion-no-117-east.html) It is possible that the person who received the watercolor was Morley Donaldson, a Vice President and General Manager for the Grand Trunk Pacific railway in Canada.
