Set of Three Leather-upholstered Carved Mahogany Side Chairs, Massachusetts, late 18th century, the serpentine crests centering a carved foliate device, above pierced splats, overupholstered seats with serpentine front rails, and square beaded legs, old surface, (imperfections),ht. 36 3/4, seat ht. 17 1/2 in.
Provenance: The Appleton Estate, Ipswich, Massachusetts, c. 1980s.

wear and tears to seats. Two of the chairs have had their cross-stretchers break out, and those two are repaired variously. The surface is old and the chairs overall are well-worn but in good structural shape.
