Paint-decorated Leather George Washington Memorial Fire Bucket, John Fenno, Boston, Massachusetts, late 18th/early 19th century, black-painted bucket with red edge, the front painted with a scene showing a white urn with large "W" on the front, all inside a scrolled frame, the top inscribed "PROTECTION IN DANGER," the bottom inscribed "JOHN HARRISON," the back marked twice with makers mark "I.FENNO" in sunken cartouche, (handle detached, but present),ht. 13 in.
Provenance: Descended through the Harrison family of Charlestown, Massachusetts.
