Hollow-cut Silhouette of the General Andrew Jackson Cut by Master Hankes, America, c. 1827, full-length figure, the reverse stamped "Gallery of Cuttings/Cut by/MASTER HANKES," inscribed at bottom edge "General Jackson," in a rosewood veneer frame with gilt liner, with a manuscript note listing the names of seven politicians titled "Profiles at Quebec 1827," ht. 10 1/2, wd. 7 3/4 in.
Note: This silhouette was presumably cut during the Convention of 1827 held in Quebec between representatives of the United States and Great Britain seeking to determine the boundary between the United States and Quebec.
