Provenance: Reportedly, Henry Brownell picked this worktable out of a house in Fall River, Massachusetts, and used it as a TV stand in his home. Bill Samaha purchased it at the Henry Brownell Estate & Decorative Arts Antiques Auction, Fontaine's Auction Gallery, Oct. 18, 2008. It was purchased by the present consignor from the above, c. 2009.
Note: The diamond-shaped carved/cut decoration on the legs appears in other furniture documented to New Bedford, including a clock case that is illustrated in Brock Jobe, Harbor & Home, catalog no. 95, pp. 283-85.
