Description:

Cherry Tilt-top Tea Table, Chapin School, Connecticut, late 18th century, circular top in a birdcage support with reed-carved "donut," and urn-turned post and tripod cabriole leg base, old refinish, ht. 28, dia. 36 in.

Provenance: "Selah Hibbard" written in ink on an old label on the underside of the birdcage. A Selah Hibbard (1766-1818) is recorded as a Revolutionary War captain; he is buried in Coventry, Tolland County, Connecticut.
