Signed "F. Rutter." l.r., identified "F. Rutter, English 1880" on a gummed label affixed to the stretcher.
Oil on canvas, 16 x 20 in. (40.5 x 50.5 cm),framed.
Condition: Lined, minor retouch, varnish discoloration, surface grime.
N.B. The only reference for "F. Rutter" in artist databases is a "Mrs. Frank Rutter" noted as active c. 1913 in AskART. Unfortunately there are no images of her paintings available to confirm stylistically or by comparing signatures that this work is hers.

The fabric visible on the reverse seems to be a second or perhaps third fabric layer which does not appear to be glued to the inside canvas.
