Helen Jacobs (British, 1888-1970)
The Children and the Rabbits. Signed "Helen Jacobs" within a scroll l.r., inscribed with the artist's name and London address on the reverse. Watercolor on paper/pressed paperboard, sight size 10 1/8 x 14 1/8 in., framed. Condition: Very minor surface abrasion to l.c. edge, fox mark to u.l. quadrant, subtle mounting bubbles or similar to u.c. edge, sandwiched in a sealed mat with window on the back mat to reveal the inscription on the reverse.
Provenance: Private collection by descent to the current owner.
N.B. The consignor reports that the work likely dates to c. 1930.

Paper is likely mounted to pressed paperboard, and was probably that way originally, given the artist's inscription on the reverse. The current window mat is affixed to the back mat, and therefore the mat was not opened during cataloging in order not to damage the presentation of the watercolor.
