Two Framed Rural Scenes:

John Bernard Johnston (American, 1847-1886), Village Sheep Herder, signed "John B. Johnston" l.r., oil on canvas, 15 x 21 in.; and American School, 19th/20th Century, Girl Raking, signed "B. Stermer" l.r., oil on canvasboard, 22 x 15 1/2 in. Condition: Herder with paint losses, craquelure with areas of lifting, Girl with warping to support, small bulge to l.c., water staining to the reverse, both with surface grime.
