Fishing Vessels in Calm Waters. Signed "L.A.E. Jacobs" l.l., inscribed and signed "The undersigned declares that/this picture has been painted by/himself to the order of...Huyre.../of Antwerp./L.A.E. Jacobs" within a painted rectangle on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 21 3/4 x 17 3/4 in., framed. Condition: Two small vertical tears measuring 1/2 in. and 1/4 in. to u.l. edge, craquelure, discolored varnish, surface grime.

Area at u.l. corner (about 3 x 7 inches) appears to have been cleaned and revarnished at some point, so that area fluoresces palely due to thinly brushed retouch or newer varnish.
