Approximately seventy-six copies of the black-and-white engraving by Charles Mottram (1807-1876) after the painting by Joseph Alexander Ames (1816-1872); condition of copies vary, but is generally good, 44 x 34 in.
Webster is depicted on his deathbed surrounded by many members of his friends and family, including: Charles Henry Thomas, Jacob Le Roy, Edward Curtis, Caroline Bayard Le Roy Webster, James W. Paige and his wife, George Ashmun, Rufus Choate, Peter Harvey, Colonel Fletcher Webster, Caroline L. Appleton, Daniel Webster, Jr., Mrs. Fletcher Webster, Caroline Webster, J.
